SHIELTRONICS® R&D LABS ANNOUNCE A REVOLUTIONARY METHOD
TO INJECT PAPER BASED SUSCEPTOR FOIL IN FOOD PACKAGING.

EINDHOVEN (April 8, 2013) – Shieltronics®, a Dutch R&D
innovation center with its primary focus on microwave food
projects, is pleased to announce that it has successfully finished
its R&D tests of a paper based susceptor in-mold label (IML). By
adding this new susceptor IML technology to the Shieltron® family
of foils it will be possible to selectively shield, accelerate, steam
and bake in a traditional microwave oven. Herewith Shieltronics ®
has completed an important step to integrate all features of
cooking principles in one in-mold label (IML) offering culinary
oven cooked quality.

This Proof of Concept of Paper based susceptor foil can be applied as
an in-mold label (IML) or lidding foil and offers a new era in microwave
food packaging. The unique combination of different shielding levels,
incorporating susceptor bake capabilities, comes with even better heating
and keeps the food crisp, moist and tender.

“Besides the unique heating patterns which brings more convenience
to the frozen and chilled food market, a paper label is much more
sustainable then plastic”; says Dick Geheniau, CEO of Shieltronics; “It is
promising that a shieltronized package now comes with faster defrosting
saving energy, which means a happier customer.” New food applications
can be expected in different area’s e.g. bakery, snacks, ready meals, cold-
warm salad and ice applications.

Shieltronics unveils new generation of selective shielding technology for microwave packaging.

Microwaved Food Never tasted this good and it's getting Better.

June 29, 2012 - Las Vegas, NV and Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Shieltronics unveiled their latest generation of proprietray, selective shielding technology for microwave packaging at the IMPI (impi.org) and IFT (ift.org) annual packaging and food technology conferences in Las Vegas, Nevada USA.

Shieltronics selective shielding technology enables the development of single and multiple compartment microwave packaging for optimal cooking and re-heating of food in microwave ovens.  Multi-component meals can now contain room chilled fresh salads, fruits, vegetable or cold sauces that will withstand heating, while the other components on the tray will be heated to their exact, desired temperature.

According to a recent report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. "Worldwide demand for microwavable foods is expected to register healthy growth over the coming years, primarily backed by convenience factor, ease of preparation of microwavable foods, and time constraints of busy working population. Surging number of workingwomen, changing food purchasing patterns, and wide array of microwavable food products are compelling more number of consumers to indulge in microwave cooking. To address the myriad requirements of fast paced lifestyles of today's busy consumers, manufacturers are sprucing up product portfolios with an ever-increasing number of appealing and enticing microwavable preparations and meals."

Dick Geheniau, CEO of Shieltronics commented " I feel our solution is timely. Our discussion with potential partners in the USA,  revealed a pent-up demand for innovations and advances in microwave meal packaging. There was a high-level of frustration over the limitations of the current geration of packaging solutions which included problems hot and cold spots - and the fact that cooking protein to the right temperature was usually done so at the expense of the vegetables and other componenets. Sauces were a completely other challenge, leading to burn-in amongst other problems."

Shieltronics addresses these problems, putting the chef back into control over the quality, appearance, taste and texture of the meals with their their latest generation of proprietray, selective shielding technology for microwave packaging.
